Experience Berlin - Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin

March 2008: The Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin on the world-famous Kurfürstendamm was and remains a very special address. For more than 55 years, the “grande dame” of luxury hotels symbolises the great tradition and stylish elegance of the capital’s hotels.

History at your fingertips
The luxurious 5-star hotel represents, like no other hotel in the capital, the rebuilding and revival of West Berlin after the Second World War. Opened in 1952 as the first luxury hotel in the city which was soon to be violently divided, the “Kempi” quickly became the centre of social and political life. There were receptions here for American President John F. Kennedy as well as the Persian Shah Reza Pahlavi. Ronald Reagan resided here as did Mikhail Gorbachev and legends such as Cary Grant, Ava Gardner, Gina Lollobrigida and Maria Callas all appreciated the special flair of their “Kempi” and, in doing so, contributed to the worldwide flair of this exceptional hotel.

Glitz and glamour
Stylish discretion, a special atmosphere and the central location in the heart of Berlin, make the Kempi on the Ku'damm a favourite meeting point for international figures from the worlds of politics, business and show business. The Kempinski's guest list reads like an excerpt from the "Who's Who" of international stars including Danny de Vito, Leonardo di Caprio, Liza Minelli, Mel C, Michael Douglas, Mick Jagger, Jack Nicholson, Johnny Depp, Sarah Fergusson, Sean Connery and Tina Turner. The chance to rub shoulders with the stars makes the Kempinski a popular place to meet up.

The satisfaction of guests is the highest priority
So that this remains like this, Hotel Director, Holger König, also places emphasis on, besides all the technology and comfort which the hotel offers, conventional values – the discreet and perfect service of a traditional grand hotel. All staff, including the trainees, share a common goal – the well-being and satisfaction of the guests. Any requests, ideas and criticism are welcome at any time as the credo, “the guest is king” has been lived out here daily at the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin since its opening.

Comfort and distinctive character
A harmonious combination of fine materials and warm colours characterise the 249 rooms and 52 suites of the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin. Importance is placed on individuality and hotel suites, therefore, feature different interior styles ranging from modern art to Japanese design to stylish classic in the Presidential Suite. The 110 square metre suite, which truly is in a class of its own, is on the eleventh floor of the hotel and has a spectacular panoramic view over Berlin. English furniture and antiques, walnut wood panelling and Prussian porcelain from the KPM manufactory in the display cabinet makes the guest feel as though they are in a bygone era of distinguished elegance. Yet, at the same time, they needn’t forgo modern technology such as WLAN or personal voice mail.

Culinary delights
The international kudos of the Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin is thanks not only to the hotel’s interesting history but also its well-known restaurants which are known far beyond Berlin. The smart bistro Reinhard’s im Kempinski and the gourmet restaurant Kempinski Grill are amongst the top addresses in good taste for Berliners and hotel guests. And in Reinhard’s im Kempinski guests can watch Berlin life go by from the terrace on two levels which opens out to the Kurfürstendamm. Here, the atmosphere skilfully combines the laissez-faire of a French bistro with the style of a luxury hotel. In the gourmet restaurant Kempinski Grill guests can enjoy, in a stylish setting, regional and international specialities and freshly prepared contemporary haute cuisine.

Business as usual
A perfectly equipped business centre with internet access and computers, WLAN technology throughout the whole hotel and 10 conference rooms with the latest technology make work in the Kempinski Hotel Bristol a real pleasure. The all-round service with courier, limousine chauffeur and secretarial service guarantees problem-free working.

More than a lobby
Seeing and being seen is, in the Kempinski Hotel Bristol, limited not only to the lobby. Guests can enjoy their stay everywhere from the Garden Room and the Gobelin Hall with its open fire and precious wall hangings to the Bristol Bar with its works of modern art. Hotel guests and non-guests can enjoy the pleasant atmosphere here – whether with a traditional glass of punch by the open fire, original afternoon tea in the Gobelin Hall or a trendy, cuisine-style cocktail in the Bristol Bar – created and served by head barman, Thomas Altenberger, Gault Millau Barkeeper of 2008.

A world of beautiful things
With its luxurious shopping arcade, the Bristol also belongs to the Ku'damm shopping experience. Fashion-conscious Berliners and guests will here find boutiques featuring famous names such as Lagerfeld and Nika, shoe fashion from Charles Jourdan, Wolford accessories as well as L'Attesa lingerie and bathing fashion, a children’s fashion salon and a boutique for high quality children’s shoes.

A treat for body and soul
A wellness highlight is the hotel spa in Roman and Greek style. A heated pool, Finnish sauna and fitness centre with different fitness equipment, leads guests and non-guests into a wonderful realm of relaxation and pampering. The Harald Höfer Hair and Beauty Salon on the ground floor also offers beauty treatments and relaxing massages.
